Synopsis
Three very different women's lives fleetingly intersect as they search for belonging in an upside down world. Natalia, a mail-order bride who discovers that her dream of running a cafeteria at her shy husband’s remote petrol station is far from reality. Briar, a lonely anaesthetist whose online relationship with her sister’s ex disintegrates on their first romantic weekend together. Faith, a wealthy empty-nester forced to reassess her opulent life when her latest investment property includes a dead tenant in its chattels.
Director’s Bio
Loren Taylor is a director, actor and writer from Aotearoa New Zealand. Her feature directorial debut The Moon is Upside Down won Best First Feature at Tallinn Black Nights and played to sell out houses at the 2024 Sydney Film Festival. Her most recent short film Hey Brainy Man co-directed with Jo Randerson was awarded Best Short Film at NZIFF 2023. Loren won Best Actress at the Newport International Festival for her role as Lily in Eagle vs Shark. She co-wrote the award-winning screenplay, which was developed through the Sundance Feature Lab, with Taika Waititi.
